The Extra-Mural Studies of University of Mumbai is organizing a course in 'Conversational English".

The students would be acquainted with the sounds of English i.e. pronunciation and some very essential stress and rhythm patterns of the language. Grammar, particularlly that which is relevant to the syntactical structure most commonly used in colloquial English, will be dealt with in as incidental a manner as posssible. Vocabulary items useful to the communication situations envisaged or incidentally emerging during a session, would be provided. An attempt would be made to introduce the students to the formal, informal, polite, familiar, impersonal and personal uses of the language.

The students would be taught how to effectively use a dictionary of current English and the key to the symbols that indicate the pronunciation of words.
